Introduction
This case study focuses on the development of a client portal for the regional center of a telecommunications high-tech company. The company specializes in delivering complex applications and product solutions to its partners, with one of its specialized areas being the energy sector.
The Story
The product in question is a client portal designed to provide convenient access to personal energy consumption data, offering a range of functionalities. These include the display of annual consumption data, registration and load curve data visualization, customizable workspaces, messaging capabilities for system operators, and scheduled report settings.
The project was completed within a three-month timeframe by a team of over 20 individuals, including developers, testers, operations personnel, business analysts, project managers, and others. The methodology followed was Scrum, and the main technologies used were Angular for the frontend, .NET for the backend, and a combination of .NET and Java for supporting services.
The Challenge
Several challenges were encountered throughout the project, including collecting information from the client, adapting to evolving requirements, redesigning certain components, and refactoring existing implementations. Additionally, the team took on development responsibilities originally delegated by the client. Key tasks included creating SOAP Web Services for generating CSV files for SAP integration, processing contract data from SAP through SOAP interfaces, and performing the initial data load into the new system using SQL scripts based on CSV files.
The Results
Among the more notable developments and milestones achieved during the project were the implementation of Active Directory user management for administrators based on AD Group membership, optional two-factor authentication (2FA) for registered users, impersonation features allowing administrators to access the portal on behalf of users for support purposes, seamless SAP integrations, and the implementation of various reports.
These accomplishments underscored the successful delivery of a comprehensive and functional client portal tailored to the specific needs of the energy sector.
