Introduction

Our team embarked on the development of multi-tenant applications for a banking institution, primarily serving the Central and Eastern European subsidiaries. The project focused on creating a notification engine to deliver messages to customers through various channels such as email, SMS, and push notifications. 

The Story

The project unfolded amidst the dynamic landscape of banking technology, with our team striving to address the unique needs of the bank's regional entities. From laying the groundwork for a robust multi-tenant architecture to fine-tuning the intricacies of message delivery across diverse channels, each phase of development was marked by collaborative effort and problem-solving.

The Challenge

Several challenges emerged during the project, including the implementation of a multi-tenant architecture and managing an international team. Backend development was led by the Hungarian team, while mobile applications were crafted by teams in Romania. Furthermore, accommodating a large customer base and tailoring messages to specific countries presented significant hurdles.

The Results

Despite the complexities encountered along the way, the project culminated in the successful deployment of a comprehensive notification engine. Through prioritization support, throttling mechanisms, and batch processing, we achieved seamless message delivery and enhanced operational efficiency.

While the application streamlined processes and fostered transparency in customer communication, the experience underscored the importance of effective collaboration and communication within international teams in future endeavors.
