Telco
Nov 5, 2025
Introduction
The company was a leading telecommunications provider in its country, operating within a relatively limited market where only three companies offered nationwide services. Among them, the market leader held a dominant position across multiple sectors, including telephony, television, and both fixed and mobile internet services. Its website ranked among the most visited nationally, and its online store consistently placed in the top 10 most frequented e-commerce platforms.
The Story
This project focused on maximizing the scalability potential offered by Kubernetes (K8s). Our team participated as DevOps Engineers, taking responsibility for the internal application, while the majority of the implementation work was carried out by another team. Our role centered on supporting the project and contributing to decision-making around application-specific issues.
In terms of scalability, we aimed to leverage the full capabilities of the Kubernetes environment—ensuring the platform could handle dynamic workloads and future growth efficiently. The project was relatively short, lasting around six months, with a significant portion of the time dedicated to support tasks and collaborative problem-solving. Kubernetes remained the core technology throughout.
The Challenge
The project did not present many major challenges. It was primarily a task-oriented initiative, with all necessary foundations already in place. While the application-specific aspects required a broad understanding of the platform, there were no particularly unique or complex issues that would have offered significant learning opportunities. The work was straightforward and focused on supporting completion rather than exploration.
The Results
The project was successful, both in completing the transition and implementing additional scalability improvements. These enhancements made the application significantly more robust, reducing the impact of fluctuating load—a common challenge across e-commerce platforms, whether driven by daily traffic patterns or seasonal spikes. The result was a more resilient system, better equipped to handle dynamic demand without compromising performance.
