Introduction

The project aimed to enhance a bank's existing customer relationship management (CRM) application by integrating a module for managing retail loans. The development objective was to optimize the loan assessment process for efficiency and reduced turnaround time. Manual functions were automated, including integration with internal and third-party applications, alongside various calculations performed during the process

The Story

Over an 8-month period, a 10-member development team worked on the project, following the SCRUM methodology. Development progressed sprint by sprint, with regular showcases and deliveries to the client. Leveraging MS Dynamics CRM as the foundation, the project extended the bank's CRM system to include retail loan management functionalities. Key technologies included MS Dynamics CRM, .NET Framework 4.0, ASP.NET WebForms, WCF, SQL Server, and SOAP.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was managing a SCRUM project within a fixed scope, budget, and timeline set by the client. Initial sprints faced negative client satisfaction due to these constraints, but integration of client-side stakeholders gradually improved manageability. As stakeholders gained insight into the project's internal workings and challenges, they became adept at prioritizing features and assessing sprint outcomes. In the latter stages, the challenge shifted to determining what could be accommodated within the timeline. However, the project successfully delivered a fully functional system by its conclusion.

The Results

The project unequivocally succeeded in delivering the envisioned product, meeting set expectations. Serving as the bank's first agile project, it garnered positive feedback from both the supplier and the client. Its success paved the way for the subsequent integration of small business loans into the system, further solidifying its impact within the organization.
